Want to converse in English?

But don’t know how?  We can make you learn. Please follow the tips and you will certainly learn it.

  1. Don’t study grammar too much

This rule might sound quite wired to many students, but it is the most important rules. If you want to clear examinations, then study grammar. However, if you want to become fluent in English, then you should try to practice English without studying the grammar.

Studying grammar will slow you down and confuse you. You start thinking about the rules while creating sentences instead of naturally saying them. Note that only a small fraction of English speakers learn more than 20% of all the grammar rules.

Only a few natives know the correct grammar. However, they are fluent in English and can read, speak, listen, and communicate effectively.

So you need to decide that do you want to be able to recite the definition of a causative verb, or do you want to be able to speak English fluently?

2. Learn phrases

Many learners learn vocabulary and try to put those words together to create a proper sentence. There are a lot of people who know a lot of words but cannot create proper sentences. The reason is that they didn’t study phrases. When children learn a new language, they learn both words and phrases. Likewise, you need to study and learn phrases as well.

If you know a bunch of 1000 words, you may not be able to say one correct sentence. But if you know 10 phrases, you can make hundreds of correct sentences. If you know 50 phrases, you will be amazed at how many correct sentences you will be able to make. So don’t spend a lot of hours learning many new words. Use that time to learn phrases instead and you will be closer to English fluency.

Don’t translate

when you want to create an English sentence; do not try to translate the words from your Mother’s tongue. The order of words is completely different and you will be both slow and incorrect by doing this. Instead, learn phrases and sentences so you may not have to think about the words you are using. It will be automatic.

3. Reading and Listening is NOT enough.

Reading, listening, and speaking is very important aspects of any language. The same goes for English. Speaking the language is the only requirement to be fluent. It is easy for children to learn speaking first, become fluent, then start reading and writing. So the natural order is listening, speaking, reading, and then writing.

First Problem

The strange thing is that schools all over the world teach reading first then writing then listening and in the end, they teach speaking. But it is totally different to learn a new language you need to read first.

Second Problem

The reason many people can easily read and listen is because that’s all they practice. But in order to speak English fluently, one needs to practice speaking. Speak out the material you are listening to and start practicing what you heard. Practice the language by speaking out loud until your mouth and brain can do it without any effort. By doing so, one will be able to speak English fluently.

  1. Submerge yourself

Being able to speak a lingo is not at all related to how smart one is. Anyone can learn how to speak any language. This is a tested thing by everyone in the world. Everyone can speak at least one language. Whether one is intelligent, or not, one is able to speak one language.

This can only be achieved by being with people who speak in that language. In one’s country, one hears and speaks their language constantly. Generally, the people who speak good English went to an English speaking school. They can speak good English not because they went to an English speaking school, but because they had an environment where they were around such people who used to converse in English constantly.

There are also many people who go to study abroad but learn very little. That is because although they went to an English speaking school, there they found friends from their own hometown and didn’t practice English.

One doesn’t have to go anywhere to become a fluent English speaker. One only needs to surround oneself with English. One can do this by making rules with his existing friends that you will only speak English. One can also carry around an iPod and continuously listen to English sentences. As you can see, results can be achieved by just changing the surroundings.

5. Study correct material

A common phrase that is incorrect is, “Practice makes you perfect.” This is not the truth. Practice only makes what you are practicing concrete. If you practice the incorrect sentence, you will have perfected saying the sentence incorrectly. Therefore, it is important that you study material that is read by most of the people.

Many students read the news and try to learn from it. However, the language they speak is more formal and the content they use is more political which is not used in regular life. It is very important to understand what they are saying, but this is more of an advanced lesson that should be studied after learning the basics of English.
