Eligibility to take up Dentistry

  • Minimum age to appear for the Entrance Exam for Dentistry is 17 years and maximum age should not be more than 25 years.
  • Passed class 12th with minimum 50% marks
  • Relaxation for reserved students in aggregate, a minimum is 40%
  • Must have studied subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12th standard.

Entrance Examination:

BDS ( Bachelor of Dental Surgery ) is the designated degree for Dentist ( Doctors). It is the professional, popular degree for dental surgery in India. It is equivalent to MBBS and owes you a Dr.

  • This program teaches dental problems, denture, and surgery.
  • BDS is a 5 -year program (¬†4year academic education + 1- year mandatory internship¬†) UG program.
  • You can pursue through full- time and part-time course.

How to become a Dentist

NEET РThis is the entrance test that you need to appear for in order to get admission into the BDS course in any Dental institute. NEEt is a tough one to crack. Start preparing for the exam well in advance. Take coaching classes that help you prepare fully and according to the exam pattern. Take mock test papers for practice and secure a good rank.

Good College – Once you clear the NEET, you are eligible for the next rounds of counselling and for the selection of the college. Research Well for the best dental colleges. Study- Now you are admitted to a dental college and you will study a BDS program for 5 years. (4 year of academics ) and (1 year of internship). Work as an intern in a good hospital and under proper guidance and supervision. Learn a lot. Practical is a must.

 MDS-  Some students may go for Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). It is a postgraduate course. More advanced and higher study in a field of Dentistry. It specializes you in any of the disciplines.
